The Department of Zoology organized an extension lecture on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Shrimp Farming.” The session featured Ms. Rashu Mehendiratta, Assistant Director Fisheries, Fatehgarh Sahib, as the guest speaker.

During the lecture, she provided detailed information about the growing prospects of shrimp farming in Punjab. She highlighted that saline and barren lands, which are often unproductive for traditional crops, can be effectively utilized for shrimp farming, making it a profitable business opportunity. Ms. Mehendiratta also informed the participants about various government schemes, subsidies, and technical support available for farmers and young entrepreneurs interested in this field.

She further discussed opportunities in shrimp feed manufacturing, shrimp processing, and value addition, encouraging students to explore aquaculture as a promising entrepreneurial venture. The lecture proved informative and inspiring for the participants.
