The College is situated at the historical town of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, a district head quarter about 4 kilometers from Sirhind Railway Station. Mata Gujri College was founded in 1957 to commemorate the supreme martyrdom of Mata Gujri, the revered mother of the Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh. The college is commited to follow the righteous path laid down by the examplary sacrifice of the two younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh who were bricked alive by the tyrannical Mughal rulers.

Bibi Gurbachan Kaur Mann, the founder of the college was a lady of great determination, dedication & vision whose sole ambition was to promote higher education in the area. Starting on a humble scale, the college now boasts of a sprawling campus spread over more than 25 acres.

The college was taken over by the S.G.P.C., Amritsar in 1964. Panth Ratan, Late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra who remained the president of the College Managing Committee as well as the SGPC for a record period of more than 25 years was the main spirit behind the overall development of the college.

Advocate S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, President SGPC, is the president, College Governing Body. A senior Akali leader and eminent social worker S. Jagdeep Singh Cheema is Addl. Secretary, Local Managing Committee. The college is bound to make rapid strides in every field under the worthy leadership of such personalities.
